Balmoral: Tipping a Winner!
With the AFL home and away season complete, and finals underway, Balmoral hosted its annual AFL Footy Tipping Competition “Winners Morning Tea”.
After two COVID-interrupted seasons, residents were even more excited to be back together to celebrate the big occasion. The room was awash with AFL regalia, team colours and footy regalia. More than 50 residents and staff dressed in AFL guernseys, scarves, beanies and waved flags as the results were announced.
For the first time in competition history, Balmoral celebrated 5 joint winners for the 2022 season!
And each winning formula was different. Resident Phillip studied the form religiously each week, picking with his ‘head over heart’ when coming to his beloved Bulldogs. Managing Director, Robin Forster, put all his tips in at the beginning of the season, hoping for the best. And reluctant tipper, resident Annette, professed “I’m not really into footy”, and tipped on a whim for fun.
Competition organiser, Glenda Maxwell, presented the winners trophy, with an extra plaque being added to fit 5 names. There were also lucky dip and door prizes for the day, ensuring everyone shared in the fun and generating a carnival-type atmosphere. What a fantastic morning!
Following the festivities, residents enjoyed a hearty morning tea, which included some of the best chicken sandwiches ever sampled at the village.
Season 2023 is shaping to be the biggest yet at Balmoral. So be sure not to miss out!
